Personalised one-to-one support to help NDIS participants build confidence, take part in the community and work towards greater everyday independence — with a support worker matched to the person, not just the roster.
For self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants across Western Sydney.
Community access support is one-to-one help to get out into the community and take part in the activities that matter to you. A support worker goes along with you — to the gym, the library, an appointment, a hobby group or just a walk around the local area — and supports you to do it with more confidence and independence over time.
It's practical, everyday support built around your goals and interests. The aim isn't to do things for you, but to support you to do more of them yourself, at your own pace.
At Waymaker Pathways, we're an independent provider working with self-managed and plan-managed participants. Whether it's your first time trying an activity or you're building a routine you can eventually manage on your own, support is shaped around what you actually want to work towards. You can explore our full range of NDIS services too.
Community access support can suit a wide range of people. It may be a good fit if you're:
You want to get out more and feel confident doing it — with support shaped around your goals, not a template.
You're looking for reliable, consistent support for someone you care about, from a team that keeps you in the loop.
You want a hand to keep routines steady and keep the person you support connected to their community.
You're building independence, social confidence and everyday skills for the next stage of life.
You need a responsive Western Sydney provider for a participant's plan, including CALD and Spanish-speaking participants.
We support people of all ages and backgrounds, and we have Spanish-speaking support workers for families who'd prefer support in their own language.
Every plan looks different, and no two people work on the same things. Depending on your goals and interests, community access support might include:
You won't do all of these — this is a menu of what's possible, not a checklist. We start with what matters to you and go from there.
Community access support works best when it's tied to real goals. Some of the things people work towards include:
We can't guarantee any particular outcome — progress depends on the person and their circumstances — but we'll work steadily and practically towards the goals that matter to you.
Big providers often slot people into whatever's available. We work the other way around. Support is shaped by your goals, your interests, your routine, your personality and how you like to be supported.
That means the support you get should feel like it fits you, not a template. And as things change, support can change with them.
Who you're supported by matters just as much as what you do. We match support workers based on personality, shared interests and the kind of support someone needs — not just who happens to be free.
We start with a relaxed call to understand the participant, their goals and their interests.
We match a worker we think will genuinely click with them — based on fit, not just availability.
You meet the worker and support begins. If the match isn't right, tell us — we'll adjust.
This is a common question, and it's worth being clear. Support workers can support participants to get to and from activities, including practising public transport as a goal.
What community access funding covers depends entirely on the participant's individual NDIS plan and circumstances. The NDIS does not automatically pay for things like activity tickets, entry fees, meals or personal expenses — those are generally the participant's own costs unless their plan specifically provides otherwise.
If you're not sure what your plan covers, we're happy to talk it through, and your plan manager or support coordinator can confirm the details for your situation.
The move from school into adulthood is a big one, and it's an area we care about. For teenagers and young adults, community access support can help with:
Support is always age-appropriate — it's about backing a young person's growing independence, not managing them. Read more on our young adult support page.
We provide community access support throughout Western Sydney, including Blacktown, Parramatta, Fairfield, Liverpool, Penrith, Campbelltown, Auburn and Merrylands, along with the surrounding suburbs.
Being local means we know the area — the parks, the gyms, the community centres, the transport routes — so support is genuinely grounded in your community.
Not sure if we cover your area? Get in touch and we'll let you know.

No — Waymaker Pathways is an independent, unregistered provider. This means we work with self-managed and plan-managed participants. If you're plan-managed, your plan manager pays our invoices; if you're self-managed, you manage payments directly.

Generally no. The NDIS doesn't automatically cover activity tickets, entry fees or meals — those are usually the participant's own costs. What your plan covers depends on your individual circumstances, so check with your plan manager or coordinator.
We prioritise consistency and matching the right worker, so participants see familiar faces rather than a rotating roster wherever possible.
