A specialist, not a generalist
Waymaker Pathways does one thing: structured one-to-one support that helps young adults with disability build real-world capability for adult life. We are deliberately narrow, because the transition years are the part most often left to chance.
Why this, and not everything
The moment we work in
School ends and the structure ends with it. Goals for adult life exist; the everyday practice that would make them possible often does not.
What we actually do
One-to-one support in real settings, organised around specific capabilities the participant chose - using the STEP Method, repeated.
What we do not do
Not SIL, not 24-hour or overnight care, not clinical or behaviour support, not nursing or personal care beyond what our workers can safely provide.
Meet the founder
Joe Surace
Founder
Joe’s background is in front-line work with young people: as a youth officer in juvenile detention, as a teacher’s aide supporting students with complex needs, and mentoring high school students. Waymaker grew out of the same question that came up in all three - what happens to these young people after the structure stops?
Joe sees Waymaker Pathways becoming more than a business - a powerful step for change and breakthrough in the lives of young adults, giving them back the power to write their own story, regardless of the circumstances they have been given.

Waymaker Pathways is not a registered NDIS provider and works with self-managed and plan-managed participants. Whether a support can be funded depends on the participant’s own plan and circumstances.
